 The Singing in the Halls…

The lovely sound heard resonating in the marble palace at night is generated by a woman named Maria Vitoria Medeiros - known mostly as "Victoria" in English. When asked what is her favorite thing to do outside of work, guess what she said?… Sing!! Having taught for two years and currently taking singing lessons, Victoria wants to keep singing in the church.

Originally from Portugal, Victoria has been married for 25 years and has two children (ages 22 and 24). She loves to sing in the church - this is what she loves to do the most.

She has been working at BU since 1985, and says the place is perfect. All her friends, the faculty, and the professors make the experience a true pleasure. If she was to be her own boss for one day she said she would not do one thing different!! This kind of attitude alive at a business school.

Vitoria also plays the piano and hinted at how well Dean Lataif plays. So keep your ears open at night in the halls of Five Nine Five.

Tired of struggling with obscure codes and the text-based Lexis-Nexis database? Good news…

Lexis-Nexis is a massive database of news articles and publications that we as BU students can use FREE of charge.

The University's LEXIS-NEXIS service changed beginning July 1. LEXIS-NEXIS is now available campus-wide through a Web-based interface called Academic Universe.

This service can be accessed from any computer on the BU network using a Web browser, or from any personal computer with a PPP connection to the BU network. The link can be found at Mugar Memorial Library's Electronic Full-Text Sources Web page: http://www.bu.edu/library/RESEARCH-TOOLS/fulltext.html

Links from the Frederick S. Pardee Library Web pages will be posted shortly. Access to LEXIS-NEXIS in the new Academic Universe format is available at three PCs in the Frederick S. Pardee Management Library. Kindly note that it is available for currently enrolled students, faculty and staff for classroom-related research. It is anticipated that students will enjoy the easy-to-use Web-based search page. Should you have any questions about this new service, please contact the Reference/Information desk at 353-4303.
